PADI Rescue Diver
Our Cape Town PADI Rescue Diver course will expand your knowledge and experience beyond purely recreational level because you'll learn to look beyond yourself and consider the safety and well being of other divers. Although this course is serious, it is an enjoyable way to build your confidence. We offer this Rescue Diver course in Cape Town every month.
The PADI Rescue Diver course is designed to develop your dive knowledge and skills to effectively perform diver rescues and assists, as well as teach you to manage diving accident situations and apply first aid skills.
Rescue Diver training will prepare you to prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies. During the five open water sessions in Cape Town, South Africa, you’ll cover:
- Self-rescue and diver stress
- Dive first aid
- Emergency management and equipment
- Swimming and non-swimming assists
- Panicked diver response
- Underwater problems
- Missing diver procedures
- In-water artificial respiration
- Egress (exits)
- First aid procedures for pressure related accidents
- Dive accident scenarios
Prerequisites for the PADI Rescue Dive Course are:

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or qualifying certification from another organization)
- You must have logged at least 20 dives
- Successful completion of a sanctioned CPR program within the past 24 months
Minimum age: 15years old (and 12 years for PADI Junior Rescue Diver)
WHERE CAN I GO FROM HERE?
Gaining your Rescue Diver qualification is quite an achievement, and shows your commitment to diving and your fellow divers. Many divers say this is the best course they’ve ever taken.
After completing your Rescue Diver Certification you can enroll on the PADI Dive Master Course, the first professional level in the internationally recognized PADI diving education and certification system.
Or, if you prefer you can concentrate on specialist areas of interest, and upon gaining 5 such specialty ratings and with a minimum of 50 logged dives, plus Rescue Diver means you can apply for the prestigious PADI Master Scuba Diver Rating Certification, the highest non-professional level within the PADI system.
