PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC)

(run in conjunction with other IDC courses in Cape Town)

As a seasoned PADI Instructor, you have wisdom and experience to share with up-and-coming PADI leaders. During the PADI Instructor Development Course, you'll learn to use and adapt the PADI System of diver education to individual student needs. Comprehensive training, supported by a wide variety of PADI educational materials, earns PADI Instructors respect from both students and peers.

PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors may conduct a broad range of PADI programs from Discover Scuba to Dive Master.
It is also the first step towards your PADI Master Instructor certification and PADI CDT Course. This PADI certification can be gained by Master Scuba Diver Trainers that have successfully completed the IDC program with a PADI Course Director.

We offer this Cape Town Dive Instructor Course every couple of months in conjunction with other IDC courses – please check for next course dates and availability here.

During the PADI IDC you will do:

 

• Knowledge development through self-study quizzes, lectures and presentations
  
• Confined water skill review and assessment, workshops and presentations
  
• Open water workshops, rescue assessment and candidate presentations
  
• Have at least 100 logged dives prior to entering a PADI Instructor Exam
  In addition to all the courses you can teach as a PADI Instructor, you can also:
  
• Teach PADI Assistant Instructor courses.
  
• Assist PADI Course Directors in conducting the PADI Instructor Development Course.
  
• Assist PADI Course Directors in conducting instructor-level continuing education.

Pre-Requisites:

1. Be renewed and in Teaching status as a PADI Instructor for the current year.
2. Hold a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating.
3. Agree to conduct all levels of diver training consistent with the standards and philosophy outlined in the PADI Instructor Manual.
4. Agree to use the PADI System and its components in their entirety.
